Tixophalte Adhesive

Product Description

A bituminous adhesive that can also be used as a sealant.

Tixophalte is available in cartridges, drums and sausages - its important characteristics are:

It can be applied cold, straight from the container.
It does not drip, flow, sag or form threads.
It sticks instantly and permanently to almost all building surfaces, even under water. Hence, your work will be much less weather dependent.
There is no need for a primer.

Tixophalte has many applications, some of which include:

As an adhesive for insulation panels in roofing systems - it does not attack the insulation, so panels with only one side having a protective coating can be bonded. On steel roofs - Tixophalte can eliminate mechanical fixings which act as cold bridges.
The bonding of bituminous roofing felts: using this technique, a bonding layer is created which redistributes and equalises vapour migration.
As a general adhesive, where high application temperatures need to be avoided, hence, no fire hazard or deformation.
To seal leaks and make emergency repairs - even in the rain.
General roof finishing work - joints, seams, edges, laps, around upstands, light domes, drains, chimneys etc.
As a tile adhesive - concrete, rubber etc.

Coverage
Insulation panels and roof felts are bonded by applying four parallel strips, 4cm wide to the substrate. This will require approx. 400g/m². For weak insulation or near edges, more strips can be applied.

Tixophalte should preferably be applied to clean and smooth substrate which is not contaminated by material (eg solvent) that might adversely affect the properties of Tixophalte. Where the substrate is wet or damp, apply to a small trial area before carrying out the whole job. In such cases, press the applicator nozzel to the substrate in order to displace the water and achieve good initial contact and adhesion.

N.B. Tixophalte contains a small amount of volatile solvent and should not be stored in direct sunlight or near a heat source. The storage area should be adequately ventilated.
