TLX Gold
TLX Gold is an all-in-one above and below rafter multi-foil and breather membrane solution. This heavy-duty roofing membrane makes re-roofing an existing loft space easier – it acts as a thermal barrier, upgrades existing insulation and replaces roof underlay all in one.
The TLX Gold multi-foil insulation has ETA approval which is valid and recognised in the UK and all EEA countries by the European Organisation for Technical Approvals (EOTA). The product incorporates:
• a top layer high-performance breather membrane
• a core of PET wadding interleaved with reflective films
• a bottom layer of reflective film
• breathable layers - so moisture passes through
• a bottom layer designed to reflect infra-red rays back into living space.
The product responds to changes in the environment – when humidity increases, the vapour permeability of TLX Gold increases. Similarly when humidity goes down so the vapour permeability of TLX Gold goes down.
This product is best for replacing roofing tile underlay on the outside of a roof as existing plasterwork isn’t disturbed. TLX Gold works with existing or upgraded insulation – whether installed between the rafters or at ceiling height.
Part of the product’s success lies in the fact it enables the roof line of a property to be maintained. When necessary roof repairs are greater than 50 percent of the total to be upgraded (subject to the 15 year payback rule), regulation requires an upgrade in the thermal performance of a roof to current standards. Before TLX Gold such an upgrade was impractical and could have meant no insulation improvement could take place. TLX Gold has overcome the technical and structural problems of raising a roof line or lowering a ceiling and falls in line with the payback rule.
