In the event of a fire plastic pipes and cables can be destroyed very quickly and because of their composition, spread fire and smoke very easily. With the use of a Fire Wrap, we can avoid this danger and seal the pipes against fire and smoke.

Flexible strips of an Intumescent barrier material are enclosed in a polythene cover. Using a self adhesive strip to make fixing quick and easy.

Uses

Fire Wraps are suitable for maintaining the fire resistance of walls and floors which are penetrated by plastic pipework, forming part of a drainage, ventilation, document transfer or electrical cable trunking system. They can be used on all types of new or refurbished buildings and are specially useful in residential flats, hotels, offices, hospitals and schools etc.

Fire Wraps can be fitted before or after the installation of the pipes. They operate horizontally or vertically and must be encased in Firestem™ mortar system or an equally specified fire barrier product approved by Firestem™.

Fire Wraps are intended to provide fire protection for UPVC/PVC/PE plastic pipes penetrating fire compartment floors and walls. It is therefore essential that they are fixed in a responsible and professional manner.

Installation

The Fire Wrap is fixed using self adhesive tape.

The area around the Fire Wrap within the wall or floor must be sealed with the Firestem™ Mortar System as per application instructions from the manufacturer.

The soffit of the floor or the face of the wall can be made smooth by trowelling the Firestem™ Mortar or applying a thin coat of it to act as a render.
